Our Story

Home Galesburg started with a simple question: with so many people in our community who care and want to help, why are so many still falling through the cracks?

We started this because we kept seeing the same conversations happen without always getting to the root of the problem. Homelessness is complicated, and every person’s situation is different. For some, the biggest barrier might be transportation. For others, it might be housing costs, a security deposit, mental health, addiction, disability, missing documents, or simply not knowing where to turn.

We felt like the first step should be understanding those barriers better and listening to the people actually living through them.

Home Galesburg is about bringing people together. The residents, businesses, service providers, community leaders, and people with lived experience, and then figuring out where the real gaps are.

We are not here to replace the organizations already doing good work. We want to support what is already working, find what is missing, and help where we can.

We are still learning and growing, but the goal is simple: bring people together, remove barriers, and help turn good intentions into real results for Galesburg.
